1. Introduction
Continental Insurance Life Lanka Limited, a company duly incorporated under the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka bearing Registration No. PB00247558 and having its registered office at No 79, Dr. C.W.W. Kannangara Mawatha, Colombo 07, Sri Lanka. (hereinafter referred to as "CILL", "Company", "we", "us" or "our", which expression shall include its successors and assigns), owns and operates its official website www.cilankalife.com (hereinafter referred to as the "Website").
By accessing or using this Website and/or making any payment through the online payment facility, you ("User", "Policyholder", "you") agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the Website.
2. Use of the Website

4. Online Premium Payments
- Online payments are processed through Paycorp, a secure third-party payment gateway provider.
- By submitting payment details, you:
- Confirm that the card or account used belongs to you or is lawfully authorized;
- Confirm that the information provided is accurate and complete;
- Authorize CILL to process the payment.
- Payments will be allocated according to the policy number or reference entered by you. You are responsible for ensuring accuracy.
- Each successful transaction will generate a payment reference number, which serves as confirmation of payment.
- CILL does not store full credit or debit card details.
- Payment processing is subject to the terms and conditions of Paycorp and the relevant issuing bank.
- CILL shall not be liable for:
- Payment failures due to banking issues;
- Errors caused by incorrect details provided by you;
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- CILL shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from:
- Use or inability to use the Website;
- Technical issues beyond its reasonable control.
- The User agrees to indemnify CILL against any claims arising from misuse of the Website or breach of these Terms.
- If dissatisfied with the Website or services, your sole remedy is to discontinue use.
6. Force Majeure
CILL shall not be responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, network failures, system breakdowns, governmental actions, or payment gateway interruptions.
7. Compliance with Laws
CILLL complies with all applicable Sri Lankan laws and regulations including but not limited to:
- Financial Transactions Reporting Act No. 6 of 2006
- Payment and Settlement Systems Act No. 28 of 2005
- Electronic Transactions Act No. 19 of 2006
- Applicable Anti-Money Laundering regulations
CILLL reserves the right to request additional documentation where required by law.
8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Sri Lanka.
9. Amendments
CILLL reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated versions will be published on the Website. Continued use of the Website constitutes acceptance of such changes.
REFUND POLICY
1. General Principles
Premium payments made through the Website are subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant insurance policy contract and applicable regulatory requirements.
Refunds will be processed strictly in accordance with:
- The applicable policy contract;
- Sri Lankan insurance regulations;
- Internal compliance procedures;
- Central bank regulations; (AML/CFT laws)
2. Eligibility for Refund
Refunds may be considered in the following circumstances:
- Duplicate payment;
- Overpayment;
- Payment made to an incorrect policy reference (subject to verification);
- Policy cancellation within the applicable cooling-off period;
- If policy status is surrendered or matured;
- If policy is unable to revive due to health conditions/ non-submission of required revival documents;
- Any other circumstance permitted under the policy terms.
Premiums relating to risk periods already commenced or premiums already due may not be refundable.
3. Cooling-Off Period
Where applicable under the specific policy terms and regulatory requirements, a policyholder may cancel a newly issued policy within the stipulated cooling-off period.
Refunds under this provision may be subject to:
- Deduction of administrative charges;
- Deduction of medical or underwriting costs (if applicable);
4. Refund Procedure
To request a refund, the policyholder must:
- Submit a written request to CILLL;
- Provide policy number and payment reference number;
- Provide proof of payment;
- Provide bank details (if required).
Refunds will be processed only after verification and approval by the Company.
5. Method of Refund
Refunds will generally be made:
- Via the original payment method, to the original source where feasible; or
- To a bank account in the policyholder's name provided by policyholder.
CILLL shall not be responsible for delays caused by banking institutions or settlement timelines.
6. Fraud Prevention
CILL reserves the right to:
- Suspend or decline refund requests where fraud or misrepresentation is suspected;
- Request additional documentation for verification purposes.
